Petition to Remain On Campus after Thanksgiving Recess

Thanksgiving recess begins Wednesday, November 25 and all students must depart campus by 12:00 noon on this day.  Students may return to campus for the spring semester beginning Friday, February 5.  Classes will begin online on Tuesday, February 9.

Students with special considerations (such as international students for whom travel is not advisable or students who depend on Wesleyan for housing) may petition to remain on campus after Thanksgiving recess.  The deadline to submit the petition is Friday, October 23, at 5:00 p.m.

Invitation from the Muslim Students Association

Welcome to Wes! We hope that everyone is safe and healthy at this time as well as taking the new semester in stride. The Muslim Students Association on campus strives to create a family and a safe place for students from various backgrounds, culturally and religiously. During a normal semester, we host Jummah every Friday as well as study sessions and social events throughout the semester. As you can guess, this semester will look very different. Although we’re not exactly sure how we will operate, we will do our best to keep the community together!

Our first event this fall will be a Zoom dinner held in the second week of quarantine. We are working on the financials and once everything is set, we will confirm on a date. Until then, please join your community and help us grow our family! If you have any questions or concerns about MSA or Wesleyan life, please reach out to us on any social platform!

We’d also like to highlight that all animal meat served as hot food during quarantine is halal! If you have any questions about this, please reach out to the Bon Appetite District Manager Micheal Strumpf at mstrumpf@wesleyan.edu.

If you’d like to join our MSA WhatsApp group, please email us your number at msawesleyan@gmail.com and we will add you! Use this link to be added to the listserv and receive updates on Jummah prayers and what we are up to as a community. Also, follow us on Instagram and Facebook @wesleyanmsa. The current board members and MSA members are all looking forward to meeting you and hope you will reach out if you have any questions!

Wesleyan Summer Sendoffs 2020

New students and their families are invited to attend a virtual Summer Sendoff event on Zoom. This is an opportunity to meet others in your area new to Wesleyan, as well as engage with a panel of current students, parents, and alumni from your region. You’ll have the opportunity to hear from Wesleyan staff, and then students and parents will join Zoom breakout rooms to learn more. New students and families are welcome to attend any of these events.

A complete calendar of Summer Sendoff events and locations, including registration information, can be found through this link.

Virtual Receptions with President Roth

Recognizing the importance of staying connected as a community, especially during these extraordinary times, Wesleyan University President Michael S. Roth ’78 will be hosting a series of virtual receptions in which he will share updates from campus and discuss his new book, Safe Enough Spaces: A Pragmatist’s Approach to Inclusion, Free Speech, and Political Correctness on College Campuses.

These receptions were originally scheduled pre-COVID and are now being offered virtually.

For this webinar-style Zoom gathering, President Roth will be speaking to you from home. You will have the opportunity to send questions via a typed Q&A function. If you are not able to join by video, you may dial in. A link to the recorded webinar will be sent to all invitees following the live program.
